Please read these reminders:

INTENSIVE ATTIRE:

  • It is recommended that dancers wear form-fitting dance attire.

  • We strongly suggest dancers wear a solid-colored leotard & tights for Ballet, and bring layers to add for other classes.

  • Transition tights are encouraged so that dancers have the option of dancing barefoot or in "turner" shoes for Contemporary &/or Lyrical classes.

  • Examples of layers: dance shorts for Jazz/Lyrical/Contemporary/Tap, T-shirts &/or baggy pants for Hip Hop, etc.

  • Please keep in mind that there will be limited time between classes to change layers and shoes.

  • Hair should be neatly pulled back so that it is not a distraction.

  • NO WATCHES, bracelets, necklaces, or large earrings.

FOOTWEAR:

  • Please bring dance shoes for every style, each day.

  • As a reminder, any type of sneaker worn in the studio for Hip-Hop must be CLEAN and not used outside.  Please come in alternative footwear to the studio and save your sneakers for the classes.

  • Ballet shoes are highly encouraged for all ballet classes.

  • Tap shoes are recommended but if you do not own a pair of your own, you can wear your "studio sneakers" mentioned above.

  • Barefoot, ballet shoes, or "turner" shoes are acceptable for Lyrical and Contemporary.

  • Jazz shoes are best for Jazz classes; barefoot is also sometimes acceptable, depending on teacher.

  • **If your schedule includes "Ballroom" or "Theater in Heels" styles, heeled shoes are optional.  Please be advised that it must be a dance heel - no stilettos are permitted in the studios.  If you have questions about this, please do not hesitate to ask.

SCHEDULE & LEVELING:

  • Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your first class on Monday morning so you know where to go and can get settled in!

  • The schedule and studio assignments will be posted in both buildings and there will be faculty there to help guide you.

  • **Parents:  if your dancer has a snack or lunch break built into their schedule, please talk to them about their boundaries during the break.  There will NOT be faculty provided to monitor dancers during breaks.  Dancers are allowed to eat their food quietly in one of our two lobbies if desired, and are expected to clean up after themselves when finished.  It is very important that your dancer is aware of what is expected of them during these breaks to ensure everyone's safety.  Please set and clearly communicate your own rules for them.

  • As mentioned in the registration, you must stay in the classes designed for your track, unless otherwise noted by a faculty member. The teachers have catered each class to each specific level, so please trust our placement of your dancer. We want them to get the most out of their experience as possible!

MISCELLANEOUS:

  • Pack snacks, water bottles, and anything else you will need for your day of dancing!

  • Please come with an openness and positivity aimed at your teachers and peers; the positive vibes will be reciprocated!

  • Remember that we must always strive to be supportive and encouraging to our community of dancers at NCDA. Make new friends, cheer for one another, and celebrate your growth as dancers!
