New Canaan Performance Company
NCPC dancers perform in several charity events throughout the year to help raise funds for specific causes, and to bring awareness of the dance art form to local comunities.
Past participations have included events run by the Young Women's League of New Canaan, a non-profit organisation dedicated to raising funds for charitable organizations in Fairfield County. NCPC has also been invited for several years by St. Mark's Church to perform at their annual New Canaan May Fair, which raises money to fund the Church's Outreach programs. In addition, NCPC has performed with The Center for Youth Leadership (Norwalk) in their annual Cabaret Night, one of their fund-raising vehicles in their efforts to bring public awareness to social change issues, such as Child Abuse and Domestic Violence. In addition, we have performed in events run by the Reach Dance Project, a charity organized by professional and non-professional dancers that focuses its funding efforts for local community neighbors who lack the basic human necessities and resources to improve their lives, as well as dance work-shops in two fund-raisers organized by the Mikey Czech Foundation, which is dedicated to finding cures for pediatric brain tumors, in memory of 11 1/2 year old Mikey, who was a student at Saxe Middle School, New Canaan, and who died of a brain tumor in September 2008.
NCPC has held four Dance-a-Thons to raise money for survivors and families of victims of 9/11, Hurricane Katrina (both for the Red Cross),the Haiti Earthquake (for Partners in Health), and Hurricane Sandy (for Save the Children - Children in Emergency Hurricane Sandy Fund).
